ABOUT ABLE AND GAME Able and Game is a new stationery label from the Melbourne based brand Anna Laura and her partner Gareth. In the lead up to Mother's Day 2008 Anna and Gareth looked at the cards on offer in a big department store and realised there was nothing they would want to give their own mothers. They created a small range of hand drawn cards, selling them at the local Rose Street Artist Market in Melbourne. The cards were poignant but without the mushiness and proved popular with people looking for something different. The decided to start the label Able and Game, launching a year after it all began, on Valentine’s Day 2009. The cards are designed and produced in Melbourne, Australia. |
ABLE AND GAME MOTHER'S DAY CARDS At Able and Game we think our mothers are special and need to be honoured with a card that says how much you care without making you or your mother cringe. We have come up with a range of cards that are heartfelt and poignant and speak the truth without the emotional sappiness one comes to expect from greeting cards these days. The hand drawn style of the cards takes you on a journey back to your childhood when breakfast in bed and hand picked flowers from the garden or a homemade macaroni necklace let your mum know how much you love her. The inspiration for the cards comes from our own memories of our mums growing up in the ‘80s when she would hold us in the ocean as the waves came crashing down, or cook us hamburgers from scratch to make up for the lack of fast food restaurants in the area. Our cards aim to be original yet truthful but, most importantly, make your mother feel truly special. |
